David Martinez is an architect in Los Angeles with a background in historic preservation and adaptive reuse. He is a transplant from Chicago and came to Los Angeles to earn a Master of Architecture from the University of Southern California. The rich architectural history of Southern California is what brought him to the area, and he continues to explore that interest both professionally and in his personal life.

Gabriel Cervantes, AIA, LEED AP BD+C is an architect with more than 30 years of experience leads the AIA|LA Adaptive Reuse Committee, a forum for championing sustainable urban transformation through creative building repurposing. As committee chair, Gabriel aligns adaptive reuse initiatives with AIA|LA’s strategic vision, promoting environmentally conscious development and community revitalization. Of particular interest is breathing new life into existing structures and demonstrating how thoughtful architectural adaptation can address modern urban challenges while preserving cultural identity. Through his leadership, the Adaptive Resue Committee fosters collaboration between architects, developers, contractors, and community stakeholders to create more sustainable and vibrant urban spaces.
