Technology in Architectural Practice — Bi-weekly AI Practice Group
**Zoom information to follow, available on this page once it is set up.**
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm PST (bi-weekly recurring, every other Monday)
A bi-weekly virtual practice group for LA architects, co-founded by Josh Weiss (Clearworks AI) and Melvin Williams, NOMA (HKS, Inc.) under the AIA Los Angeles Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Committee. Each 60-minute session functions as a working group, not a webinar — participants surface their most pressing operational problems, watch live workflow demos (meeting automation, AI-assisted spec writing, proposal drafting, quality control, and more), and leave with one concrete thing to implement before the next session. The format has been running for nine months with a live cohort, with rotating facilitators from the AIA LA community bringing real firm experience each session.
The program is designed for leaders at small to mid-size LA firms who have experimented with AI, gotten uneven results, and want a structured, peer-driven environment to build the actual habit of using it. Sessions are free for AIA LA members, held virtually on a bi-weekly cadence, and require no ongoing commitment beyond the session a participant registers for. TAP is sponsoring the initiative as a direct extension of its 2026 conference mandate: ensuring architects shape how AI enters the profession, rather than having it shaped for them.
Founding Facilitator – Josh Weiss – Clearworks AI

Josh Weiss is the founder of Clearworks AI. Twenty-five years in IT and consulting, the last 13 spent inside architecture, nonprofit, and professional services firms. He built LA Creative Technologies from the ground up before it was acquired – two decades of watching smart people get stuck doing work that never should have been theirs to do. Now, running an AI and operations consulting firm, he finally gets to lead the strategic work firms need to streamline and transform their workflow.
Founding Facilitator – Melvin Williams, NOMA – HKS, Inc. Plus rotating guest facilitators from the AIA LA TAP community each session.
