Douglas Humphrey – Principal Architect, Division of the State Architect, State of California & Regional Manager, DSA Los Angeles

I’ve been a California licensed Architect for 45 years and I’m currently the Principal Architect, Los Angeles Regional Manager for the California Division of State Architect.

I grew up in San Diego and went to college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, starting in 1969, and then graduated from Southern California Institute of Architecture in Santa Monica. I worked for various architects from Boston to Palm Springs, Corona Del Mar, and then back to San Diego, where I eventually started my Architecture practice, which I ran for 25 years before coming to work for the State of California.

I initially started working for the state in the San Diego Regional Office of DSA and then was assigned to the Los Angeles Regional Office approximately 13 years ago.

I currently live in Pasadena and have happily adapted to life in the Los Angeles area. I have 3 sons, one who lives with me and is going to school at Pasadena CC, and two more sons who live and work in San Diego. My middle son and his wife will make me a grandfather with my first grandchild in April. An event I have looked forward to for a long time.
