ELIGIBILITY

  • Competition is open to all AIA Members, associates, affiliates, students, and the general public.
  • Winners will be publicly announced through the AIA|LA newsletter sent out to over 13,000 people, including the AIA Membership.
  • Winners will be recognized on the @aia_la Instagram and Facebook feeds through the posting of their images with full credit and honors, as well as the www.aialosangeles.org website.
  • Winners will receive a certificate and are celebrated at a private event in their honor.
  • Photographs may be originally shot in digital format or may be high-resolution scans of film.
  • Final image must be at least 1850 pixels wide, at 300 dpi (72dpi OK for cellphone images) and saved as a JPG or TIFF File. Maximum size 10MB.
  • Registration must be received by Friday, December 13, 2019 at 12:00PM.

 

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

BEST IMAGE CATEGORY
Entry fee is nonrefundable: $25 AIA, Assoc. AIA, and Allied Affiliate AIA|LA Members | $15 for students, and $40 for Non-Members.

1 registration= 3 images to submit for consideration.

Subject must have an architectural theme or contain an element of the human-made environment. Photographic interpretation will be judged, not the architecture. Location of images is unrestricted.

Entries must have been taken and owned by the participant.

Entries must be submitted in digital format.

Participants grant reproduction rights and permissions to AIA Los Angeles to use all submitted images (in either print or electronic form) for website, exhibition, publications, fundraising, and promotional purposes in relation to the Architectural Photography Awards – with your credit, of course.

Submission of entry implies acceptance of all above conditions. Any images not conforming to the rules will be disqualified, entry fee will not be returned.

1) Best Instagram Feed by an Architecture Firm

This category will be judged not on single images but:
1) how the firm uses their Instagram feed to convey the world of architecture.
2) the creation of look/tone
3) body of work, as in the quality of photographs.

As in all categories, the architecture is not being judged.

75% of images on the feed must be architecture or, in some way, related to architecture.

Entering firm must have rights to post the images used on their feed.

To enter:
– choose Best Instagram Feed by a Firm
– provide Instagram handle
– Name of feed
– Name of Person or firm generating feed

$65 for members
$95 for non-members

2) Best Instagram Feed by an Architectural Photographer (Open to Photographers, Architects, Designers, and General Public)

This category will be judged not on single images but:
1) how the photographer uses their Instagram feed to convey the world of architecture.
2) the creation of look/tone
3) body of work, as in the quality of photographs. As in all categories, the architecture is not being judged.

90% of images or MORE on the feed must be taken by the photographer or individual who owns the feed.

75% of images on the feed must be architecture or, in some way, related to architecture.

– Name of feed
– Name of person
