From eVTOLs to drone delivery; from Boom Supersonic to Space Perspective; the modern space race is escalating at a rapid pace, and commercial space travel is the next chapter in that evolution.

Change is constant, and today’s aviation industry is exemplary of this – from eVTOLs to supersonic flight, we are consistently discovering newer, faster, and more sustainable ways to connect globally, and into the cosmos. Commercial space travel is at the center of the modern space race, and as we sit at the cusp of democratizing access to space for everyone, we can certainly imagine the impacts these revolutionary changes will have on our collective cosmic futures, for generations to come.

Together with our industry partners, and leaders across the space industry, Hugo – Corgan’s Research and Innovation team – is working to make commercial space travel a reality. Join us as we discuss how the aviation industry is anticipating and planning for this radical shift. From SpaceX’s reusable rockets to Blue Origin’s plans for space tourism, we will explore the remarkable growth of both private and public space industries, technological breakthroughs propelling this reality forward, and the changing human behaviors driving the evolution of traveling to space for everyday adventures – all of which are fundamentally reshaping our plans for a future both in the stars and on the ground.

Samantha Flores, AIA, RID
Vice President // Director of Hugo
Corgan

As Vice President and Director of Hugo, Corgan’s innovation and research team, Samantha elevates data-driven design around the human experience, examining the various impacts emerging technologies and evolving human behaviors will have on the future user experience and built environment. Keeping a pulse on industry innovations, Hugo provides a platform for Corgan to explore, experiment, and develop products with experts from various industries, enabling Corgan to break into emerging markets.

Samantha has pioneered human-centered design research around intuitive wayfinding, olfactory architecture, age simulation, and immersive sensory spaces. Additionally, she has lead the development of investigatory publications such as the Curiosity Report series, the Hybrid Report, and Designing with Mass Timber. She is currently a firm resource in AI tool development and deployment, and has designed emerging architectural typologies such as skyports, spaceports, vertical farms, and mobile data centers.

Prior to Hugo, Samantha has six years of experience as an architect in Corgan’s Aviation studio, designing international airports such as Shanghai Pudong International Airport South Satellite, DFW, LGA, and London Heathrow. Samantha received her Bachelor of Architecture from Oklahoma State University, and her Masters of Architecture from Princeton University.
