Design Awards Sustainability Submission Clinic

June 7, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT

Design Awards Sustainability Submission Clinic

This session is geared for design firms who are submitting for this year’s Design Awards and provides simple steps to complete the 2021 submission process which includes new norms the profession has adopted in sustainability.

With greater awareness of architecture’s significant contribution to climate change comes our responsibility to do something about it. Since 2006, the 2030 Challenge, and the aligned AIA 2030 Commitment, has provided a roadmap to tracking, understanding and ultimately reducing GHG emissions.

The session will cover:

+ The new minimum sustainable design, firm and project level, requirements for all design award submissions

+ How to sign up to be a signatory to the AIA’s 2030 Commitment with detailed steps of signing the  signatory letter template until you can develop a custom one of your own.

+ How to develop an action plan

+ Uploading your project data into the AIA’s ddx platform.

This session is geared toward one or more staff who facilitate marketing functions coupled with expertise on the sustainable design aspects of the project(s) being submitted and or firm’s work. In small firms this may be one staff member, in larger firms, more often two or more.
