Join Francisco Owens, AIA (Designer, SmithGroup) and Lawrence D. Piro M.D. (CEO, The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, a Cedars-Sinai affiliate) & Zeke Triana, AIA (Vice President, FPD&C, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center); in an engaging conversation and virtual walkthrough of the innovative 45,000 GSF, The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute on Wilshire Boulevard in West Los Angeles. The spaces are visually clean and calm with art as inspirational focal points to support the physical and emotional journeys of the patients and families. The design solution works to alleviate apprehension and the fear of testing upon arrival, highlight the clarity of finding diagnosis results, facilitate rebirth through treatment, and celebrate the relief of departure from the clinic. The materiality, colors and articulation of each space mirror the moments in the process and reinforces the sense of care and comfort of the facility for the patients and staff. Capturing the community’s need for specialized outpatient services, The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute includes a comprehensive oncology center with clinical laboratory, infusion therapy, clinic areas, multi-modality imaging, interventional radiology and research. A multi-phased user-in-place construction approach allowed the facility to remain operational during construction and will be discussed.
