Architecture in Healthcare Committee

One of the most active in the AIA LA chapter, the Architecture in Healthcare Committee is led by two volunteer co-chairs, who serve two-year alternating terms. Supporting them is a steering committee comprised of past co-chairs, allied industry members, and healthcare architects. The steering committee meets at quarterly intervals to discuss future topics and logistics for events.

 

Building & Performance Committee

Recent technological advances in conjunction with progressive building regulations hold the promise of increasing the wellness of occupants and the energy efficiency of buildings.  The Building Performance and Regulations Committee’s mission is to advocate for future reach modifications to regulations and ordinances that affect the architectural practice at large and ultimately all of us as building users.

 

Committee on the Environment [COTE]

The Committee on The Environment (COTE) works to advance, disseminate, and advocate design practices that enhance the design quality and the environmental performance of the built environment. COTE serves the community as the local voice of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institutes of Architects (AIA) regarding sustainable design.

 

Design Awards Committee

The Design Awards recognizes excellence in architecture and design as submitted by AIA members for projects either in the Los Angeles area or designed by members of the LA Chapter anywhere.

 

Emerging Professionals Committee

Capitalizing on our members’ limitless energy and imagination, AIA|LA Emerging Professionals (EP) is a dynamic resource for people looking for support in the early stages of their architecture and design careers. Connecting young architects licensed up to ten years, people working towards licensure, and students, AIA|LA EP offers a variety of events including ARE preparation, mentorship, volunteer projects, and opportunities to relax and socialize.

 

Fellows Nominating & Mentoring Committee

The Fellows Committee identifies, invites, and nominates qualified members for elevation to Fellowship. The committee also assists nominees in finding mentors and preparing submittal portfolios.

 

Governmental Outreach Committee [AIAGO!]

The Governmental Outreach Committee (GO) mission is to help establish a political voice for architects and perform leadership outreach to policy makers and elected officials on matters of importance to AIA|LA and its membership.

 

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee [J.E.D.I.]

Historic Resources Committee [HRC]

Interior Architecture Committee

The mission of the Interior Architecture Committee is to use discussions of interior building spaces as a starting point for exploration of creativity, design process, cross-discipline collaboration, and ways to connect people to their environment while strengthening the community of designers, constructors, and vendors.

 

Professional Practice Committee

The mission of the Professional Practice Committee is to advance the knowledge and skills of architects and young professionals, to enable a better understanding of, and ability to adapt to the changing landscape in a rapidly evolving industry. Our goal is for the Professional Practice Committee to be a forum for discussion, thinking, and sharing of information and ideas, to help architects adapt and evolve their practice and manage risk in this complex and fast changing environment.

 

Urban Design Committee [UDC]

The AIALA Urban Design Committee is an action-oriented group which seeks to enhance our urban environment by fostering robust information exchange among its members and the public about best practices, strategies and tactics by encouraging a constructive discourse regarding a visionary future for Los Angeles and the region.

The WiA LA leadership group is pleased to present our 2022 Work Plan. We look forward to bringing on two new vice chairs and are excited to present our ideas for the coming year. We will continue to host monthly events and take the lead on planning the annual Powerful Conference. Academic Outreach

Supporting the education of K-12 students in the region to engage in programs that introduce and prepare students for careers in architecture.

2×8 Exhibition & Scholarship Committee

Designed to support next generation designers, “2×8” introduces student work to architectural firms, architects, and the public– while recognizing exemplary work by awarding scholarships. Initiated by ACLA’s sister organization, the AIALA, “2×8” was launched in 2002.

Design by Diversity Committee [DxD]

     This once-yearly event connects professionals to students across many experience levels to create a “circular mentorship” platform.
