INNOVATION CHALLENGE – REIMAGINE, REUSE, RECLAIM: A community-based workshop focusing on the revitalization of underutilized land in the city.

The third installment of the small talks series centers around the idea of communities as urban designers of their own neighborhoods. Join small talks:LA for a design charrette workshop focused on rescuing and repurposing vacant or poorly-used city lots and the transformation of urban land into community greenspace.

This participatory design workshop will invite attendees to join together in a discussion of design ideas — charrette-workshop style — where innovation, creativity and imagination are the key to designing a plan that not only will transform vacant lots into a community green space but also potentially help solve real-world environmental problems. Through this workshop participants will build their understanding of recycling and reducing waste, environmental connections, and problem-solving as they collaborate to design and develop plans to create a green community space.

Join us after the event across the street at Highland Park Brewery – Chinatown.

Stay tuned for PART 2: INNOVATION CHALLENGE – REIMAGINE, REUSE, RECLAIM: A workshop focusing on the upcycling & repurposing of building materials. TBD: May/June, 2019
