Providence Breeze Ambulatory Care Center Tour

Constructed on the site of an old newspaper facility, the recently opened Providence Advanced Care Center challenges the norms of patient-centric care with a design that finds inspiration in the intimate.

The 106,000-square-foot space houses a women’s center, imaging center, outpatient ambulatory surgery center, clinics, medical and surgical oncology, infusion center and two linear accelerators. To accommodate for these numerous technical elements, as well as to meet the many, complicated design codes required of medical facilities, the design team had to think outside the box as they attempted to elevate the standard patient experience.

Working with Providence’s client team in Lean 2P workshops, our designers reevaluated the care center’s registration process as well as the Surgery Center traffic flow. The team also worked with end users to develop these processes and design the departments to accommodate them. The result: a medical center that looks, feels, and operates like a hospitality project.

The new Center provides key services including City of Hope’s multi-disciplinary cancer center, an Orthopedic and Spine Institute, Genetic Testing and Counseling, Women’s Breast Center, Advanced Imaging Center, Ambulatory Surgical Center, Rehabilitation Services including Aquatic, Cardiac, Hand, Occupational, Orthopedic, Physical, Pulmonary, and Speech Therapy and Cardiometabolic Program.
