Open Forum in Support of LA’s AAPI Design Community

April 19, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm PDT

Open Forum to Collectively Process and Discuss How to Support our AAPI Design Community

An Open Forum to reflect on the rise and coverage of the recent anti-Asian hate crimes and how it’s affecting our AAPI design community in LA.

We acknowledge that AAPI is a broad umbrella term for a diverse community — which is why it is important and why we encourage you to share your voice with us. The discussion will be formatted as an open forum to give attendees an opportunity to speak, while providing some guided questions to collectively process and talk through ideas for change. We will open the forum with thoughts from senior practitioners and leaders in our community, including but not limited to – Alice Kimm, FAIA (JFAK), Annette Wu, AIA (NAC Architecture, AIALA Treasurer), Annie Chu, FAIA (Chu + Gooding), Audrey Sato (Sato Architects, Inc.), Chazandra Kern (LA Más), Patti Rhee, FAIA (EYRC), and Simon Ha, AIA (Steinberg Hart).

We know this is a complex and sensitive topic and want to make the space as comfortable and safe for all attendees to share what’s on their minds and/or share any personal experiences.
