The objectives of this virtual meeting will be to provide an an overview of:

  • The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Design Process From Customer Concept to Meter Spinning
  • Design and Construction Trending Timelines
  • Contacts and Communications with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Design Teams

This forum will also serve as an opportunity for architects and designers to share with LADWP specific, helpful recommendations for how our publicly-owned utility can adjust their design standards, procedures, and processes to ensure that we’re able to build a safe, healthy, resilient, equitable, and economically vibrant Los Angeles.

Together, we want to implement best-practices to facilitate more affordable housing and optimize the social and environmental performance of our public realm.

Bios:

Jeff L. CarivauDirector, Power New Business Development and Technology Applications, LADWP

Jeff L. Carivau has over 34 years of experience with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). As Director of Power New Business Development and Technology Applications, and Meter Services and Field Operations he directs operations for all new business both commercial and residential, tract, Customer Station Design, Electric Vehicle, Photovoltaic, along with LADWP inspections and Electric Meter Setting. Additionally, he oversees our Distribution Automation, Geographic Information System, Work Management and Outage Management Sections. In the past he has managed operations in our Construction Districts, Contract Operations, and Emergency response sections in Power Transmission and Distribution Division.

Eric A. TaylorAssistant Director, Power New Business and Technology Applications Division & Manager, New Business Development, LADWP

Eric A. Taylor is the Assistant Director of Power New Business and Technology Applications Division and Manager of the New Business Development section. Mr. Taylor manages the Service Planning, New Business, and Project Coordination and Renewables subsections which include engineering and Electric Service Representative staff who assist customers in coordinating new and upgraded electrical service request for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. This includes determining electrical service requirements for customer projects, engineering design, and field inspections and approvals. Mr. Taylor holds BSEE, MSEE, and MBA degrees, and is a published IEEE author with more that 30 years of electric utility experience.

Steven J. BullumManager, New Business and Customer Support Section, LADWP

Steven J. Bullum is the Power New Business Development and Technology Applications Manager of the New Business and Customer Support Section. New Business and Customer Support includes engineering staff of the Tract and Mobile Home Design Group, the Valley Service Planning Group, and the Street Light Engineering Group. These Groups assist customers in coordinating new and upgraded electrical service requests for industrial, commercial, residential, and other development projects. Mr. Bullum has over 30 years’ utility experience with LADWP, including design, supervision, and management experience in Power Distribution, Transmission, Quality Assurance and Power System Safety.

Thieu Linh DoanManager, Renewables, Projects & Coordination Section, LADWP

Thieu Linh Doan is the Power New Business Development and Technology Applications Manager of the Renewables, Projects and Coordination Section. This section includes the Electric Vehicle Service Design, Photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage Service Design, Customer Station Design and Telecommunication Service Design groups. Mr. Doan has over 39 years of experience with LADWP, including design, supervision, and management experience in Compliance and Standards, Transmission and Distribution Levels Substations and Customer Support.

George P. NinoManager, Service Planning and Customer Support, LADWP

George P. Nino is the Power New Business Development and Technology Applications Manager of the Service Planning and Customer Support Section. The Service Planning Section includes engineering and Electric Service Representative staff that assist customers in coordinating new and upgraded electrical service requests for industrial, commercial, and residential customers. This includes determining the electrical service requirements for customer projects, engineering design and field inspections and approvals. Mr. Nino has over 30 years’ utility experience with LADWP, including design, supervision, and management experience in Distribution, Transmission, and Substation Systems.
