Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Patient Tower Tour

Learning Units: 1.5 Health|Safety|Welfare

To serve a growing population, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital selected Bernards-HMC Archtects to design and build a new six-story, 163,000 SF, 120-bed Patient Tower on its existing 238-bed Level II Trauma Center hospital in Santa Clarita. The tower features a dedicated Maternity Floor with seven LDRs, 22 Post-Partum/Anti-Partum rooms, and two C-section ORs; and three med-surg floors with unobstructed views from all patient rooms.

In addition to the rooftop helipad with direct ER access, there is a dedicated materials management and loading/receiving dock, free-standing indoor/outdoor central plant, and new entry lobby on the ground floor. The basement-level kitchen/servery/dining area, which opens on to the sunken exterior garden space, will serve as the social and dining hub of the campus for patients, families, and staff. Strategically inserting the tower between three existing buildings connects them functionally and fuses their exteriors into a cohesive campus aesthetic.
