Climate Change in Los Angeles: Addressing our Era’s Extraordinary Challenge + Opportunity for a Better Quality of Life

Presentation By: Climate Resolve + AIA|LA Committee On The Environment (COTE)

Hosted By: MASHstudios

Learning Units: 1 Health|Safety|Welfare

Join AIA|LA COTE and Climate Resolve to discuss how climate change is already affecting the City of Los Angeles, and how we can mitigate the negative affects.

Climate Resolve, LA’s premier climate change nonprofit organization, is bringing a cutting-edge climate science and solutions presentation to AIA members and the architectural community. The presentation includes information about how climate change will affect Angelenos, down to the very neighborhood block, while offering solutions for individuals and city designers to make a difference.

We will talk about what’s predicted for the future using research from UCLA and USC, including projections for extreme heat days and snowpack. Lastly, the presentation covers feasible solutions for urban environments to combat the urban heat island effect, which would be of great interest for city planners and designers.
