Additional information regarding the tour and check-in process will be emailed directly to registrants 24 hours before the event.

Nestled in the hills above the San Fernando Valley, the Clear Oak Residence is a restored and renovated single-story, mid-century home with wrap-around views of the San Gabriel and Santa Susana mountains. This residential renovation strengthens the connection between the house and its hillside site by simplifying and strengthening alignments throughout the home while maintaining the building’s original footprint. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors integrate the living space with the landscape, opening onto to a large entertainment deck and a cantilevered, corner-infinity edge pool that amplifies the connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Following the tour, the partners of Woods + Dangaran will be holding a discussion at Clear Oak surrounding their debut monograph, Woods + Dangaran: Architecture and Interiors, which celebrates the first ten years of their practice. The monograph represents their values and approach to architecture that is modern, yet classic and familiar. Through the seven homes represented in this book, they explore honesty of form, rich color palettes and materials, and conversations with the landscape.

Tour Led By

Joseph Dangaran, AIA

Joseph Dangaran is one of the founding partners of the Los Angeles based architecture and interior design firm, Woods + Dangaran. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California before working at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Marmol Radziner, where he honed his approach to modern architecture. When starting Woods + Dangaran just over 10 years ago, Joseph and business partner Brett Woods made the commitment to create modern homes through dialogue and exploration while collaborating closely with clients through the design process. “If you’re going to create something physical in this world, it should have intention and craft. Architecture should communicate its construction, its systems, and its soul to the user.”

Brett Woods

A founding partner of the Los Angeles based architecture and interior design firm, Woods + Dangaran, Brett Woods is committed to collaborating closely with clients and delivering work that is uncompromising in craftsmanship. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California before working at Altoon + Porter Architects and Little Architects in Durham, North Carolina. When forming Woods + Dangaran with his business partner Joseph Dangaran just over 10 years ago, they designed a practice that curated journeys through indoor and outdoor environments, realized sublime experiences of space and light, and speak directly to users. “Architecture should speak to you emotionally and make you think. It should create a healthy dialogue between people, so you can stand back and appreciate what it does for society.”
