Andrea Cohen Gehring, FAIA, LEED-AP BD+C

Andrea Cohen Gehring, FAIA, LEED-AP BD+C, is a Senior Principal and the California Region Higher Education Sector Leader of DLR Group, a full service Global design and engineering firm with over 1,000 people in 28 offices.  With a diverse practice and leadership, DLR Group has been providing architecture, interior design, planning, programming, and engineering services for over fifty years.  Andrea is committed to the design of significant architecture that promotes diverse, vibrant campuses.  Her comprehensive portfolio includes educational, civic, healthcare, commercial, hospitality, religious, and historic renovation projects.  As the former Chair of the AIA/National Practice Management Knowledge Community, one of the AIA’s largest Knowledge Communities, Andrea conveyed her knowledge and experience to the entire profession.  In 2007, Andrea was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), one of the highest honors the AIA bestows upon its members.  In addition, Andrea represented the USC School of Architecture on the 2006-2007 USC Alumni Association Board of Governors.  Speaking engagements include three National AIA Conventions, three National Practice Management Knowledge Community Fall Conferences, and the AIA/National Academy of Architecture for Justice 2008 Fall Conference.  Most recently,Andrea has served as a Board Member for the AIA/California Council and the 2014 President of the AIA/ Los Angeles Chapter. She is currently a member of the AIA/CC Design Procurement Project Task Force.  With a history of service to her community and profession, Andrea is an inspiration to her colleagues and peers.  Andrea strives to set a viable example as a new model for the 21st century architectural large firm Principal, balancing family life with enlightened practice management, and mentoring young women about family life and career goals.
