Her 18 years of experience span from consulting (with RFR\, GNA\, SHoP Construction\, Arup) to being the Founder of Digne\, Dignified Constructions Solutions\, and Adjunct Faculty with SCI-Arc since ‘21. Sophie Pennetier teaches Structures and Embodied Carbon classes. Those two topics\, alongside façades\, are the core of her contributions to SCI-Arc Design Development projects. \nSophie’s elective class on embodied carbon responds to her students’ request to accelerate their knowledge in reducing upfront carbon. It supports their research projects on circular architecture and brings in internationally recognized industry trailblazers involved in policy\, sustainability consulting\, manufacturing\, contracting\, and circular economy. Her students’ work on embodied carbon has been applauded and sought after by major architecture and consulting firms and industry associations such as the Carbon Leadership Forum. Through such efforts\, each year\, upward of a hundred SCI-Arc students learn to grow the innovative and creative thinking the industry needs to address the built environment\, leading to a significant contribution to climate change. \nSophie has published and presented her research internationally in scientific conferences\, trade associations and journals\, codes committees\, and lectured at universities in Europe and the US. The City’s goals to achieve water self-sufficiency\, zero waste\, and carbon neutrality require that Sustainability be at the forefront of project management and serves as a catalyst for public sector leadership in building practices. \nHeidi is FAIA\, LEED Fellow\, WELL AP\, Fitwel Ambassador\, and creator of the Collective Impact speaker series. Previously\, Heidi was VP of Sustainability at Skanska and Principal at Buro Happold. Heidi served on the USGBC California Board of Directors from 2013 to 2019. Joining in 2016\, she oversees the functional areas of the organization\, including management of over 2\,000 units of affordable housing\, housing development\, resident services\, maintenance\, and administration of 100 staff. Ms. Barauskas has over 25 years of experience in affordable housing development\, having worked at both for-profit and non-profit affordable housing development organizations prior to joining Community Corporation. \nHer past experience includes overseeing and managing the development process of numerous projects throughout California. Ms. Barauskas holds a Bachelors’ Degree in English from California State University\, Long Beach\, and a LEED AP Accreditation from the US Green Building Council. \nTara currently serves on several Boards – the Santa Monica Bay Area Human Relations Council\, Housing California\, the Santa Monica Bay Area Human Relations Council\, and the Westside Urban Forum. Reamer\, Jr. – Inspector of Public Works & Director\, Bureau of Contract Administration\, City of Los Angeles\nJohn L. Reamer\, Jr. has had a distinguished career in public service\, beginning his tenure with the City of Los Angeles as an Electrical Craft Helper before advancing to the role of Inspector of Public Works and Director of the Bureau of Contract Administration (BCA) in August 2004\, a position he still holds today. \nAs the Inspector of Public Works\, Mr. Reamer plays a central role in upholding BCA’s mission to create a safe\, inclusive\, and transparent work environment. He ensures that public works construction projects adhere to the highest standards of safety and quality. In this capacity\, he also oversees the processing of City construction payments and formally accepts work completed by private contractors under City permits or contracts. His leadership has been pivotal in the successful delivery of several landmark projects\, including the Police Administration Building\, the revitalization of the Sixth Street Viaduct\, and vital public improvements by LA Metro\, such as the Crenshaw “K” Line. These transformative projects have significantly enhanced Los Angeles’s urban landscape\, aligning with the Bureau’s commitment to precision\, fairness\, and accountability in every build while empowering workers and promoting small business success. \nAs Director of BCA\, Mr. Reamer has championed initiatives that protect both employees and employers in the City’s procurement process. He oversees the enforcement of Prevailing\, Living\, and Minimum Wage laws and administers key ordinances like the Fair Work Week. Under his leadership\, BCA has negotiated 99% of the Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) used by City departments\, including the first-ever PLA implemented by LA Metro. These agreements have helped ensure that public construction projects meet safety and labor standards while providing fair compensation to workers\, many of whom come from underserved neighborhoods. This focus on workforce participation has fostered community development\, with the benefits of these City-funded projects reaching the very communities that have contributed to their success. \nMr. Reamer serves as the City’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison Officer. He is deeply committed to promoting diversity and opportunity for small businesses through initiatives such as the Business Inclusion Program (BIP) and the Local Business Preference Program (LBPP)\, both managed by BCA. These programs provide small\, minority-owned\, women-owned\, veteran-owned\, and local businesses with greater access to City contracting opportunities. They foster economic equity\, fair competition\, and the growth of local businesses\, which contribute to job creation and innovation. By empowering businesses to scale and compete\, BCA helps create a cycle of social impact as successful businesses reinvest in their communities\, strengthening the City’s economic fabric. \nIn 2019\, Mr. Reamer’s expertise in both economic growth and workforce development led to his appointment by the Mayor of Los Angeles as Interim General Manager of the Economic and Workforce Development Department. In this role\, he spearheaded the creation of a Citywide Economic Development Strategy that laid the groundwork for a Small Business Commission. He worked closely with the Workforce Development Board to enhance opportunities for transitional and youth workers\, advancing the City’s economic and workforce development initiatives. His efforts to coordinate with Business and Work Source Centers complemented his commitment to a regionalized\, citywide approach to economic growth. \nUnder Mr. Reamer’s leadership\, BCA has grown into a pivotal force in overseeing and executing critical City projects\, such as street repairs\, municipal facility construction\, and investments in the City’s wastewater treatment systems. His commitment to excellence extends beyond compliance with legal and regulatory requirements\, as he has fostered an environment that supports local businesses and champions equitable hiring practices. District 54 encompasses Boyle Heights\, Lincoln Heights\, Westlake\, Downtown Los Angeles\, Koreatown\, Pico-Union\, Chinatown\, Little Tokyo\, Historic Filipinotown\, and the cities of Vernon\, Montebello\, and Commerce. \nGonzález is the son of a single mother and grew up in Section 8 housing — he understands the challenges working families face in trying to make ends meet. After his mother suffered a stroke two years ago\, Mark became her sole caregiver — taking his mom to the grocery store\, doctor appointments\, and attending church with her every Sunday. In this role\, he witnessed the failures of government\, social programs\, and the healthcare system to support vulnerable seniors adequately. \nPrior to his election to the State Assembly\, Mark served as Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. He successfully organized support for laws to make community college free\, protect our air and water\, make housing more affordable\, and combat the homelessness crisis. \nAfter the overturning of Roe v. Wade\, Mark helped lead the fight to pass a constitutional amendment in California protecting a person’s right to access safe\, legal abortion care — effectively turning California into a safe haven for anyone seeking reproductive care across the nation. As the General Manager\, Laura leads a multi-disciplinary department responsible for advancing the safe and efficient multi-modal movement of people and goods within the City. \nPrior to joining the City of Los Angeles\, Laura served as the Director of Transportation for the City of Pasadena and as Deputy Executive Officer of Countywide Planning with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). \nLaura received a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California\, Los Angeles\, and a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College. He oversees design\, planning\, procurement\, and delivery of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games venue infrastructure\, energy\, look\, and signage. \nMike served in the U.S. Army as an engineer officer\, completing more than 27 years on active duty\, including tours in Nicaragua\, Germany\, Iraq\, and Afghanistan. He commanded and led engineers and technicians in arduous environments\, including disaster relief and other operations. Mike holds numerous military awards and decorations\, including the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat action. \nMike graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado\, Boulder\, CO. He is a graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies\, Fort Leavenworth\, KS\, and the U.S. Army War College\, Carlisle Barracks\, PA. She leads the organization of nearly 12\,000 employees\, delivering water and power to the four million residents of Los Angeles. \nMs. Quiñones has over 25 years of leadership experience as a senior executive in the utility and engineering industries and joined LADWP from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)\, where she first served as Senior Vice President of Gas Engineering and then as Senior Vice President of Electric Operations. In the latter\, she oversaw electrical system operations and the power generation fleet\, as well as the management of electrical assets that support the California Independent System Operator. \nPrior to PG&E\, Ms. Quiñones served as the Vice President of Gas Systems Engineering for National Grid\, where she managed the engineering and design of natural gas distribution\, transmission\, and infrastructure projects for National Grid’s U.S. territory and oversaw various meter compliance\, design\, and construction projects. \nMs. Quiñones’ experience also includes serving in the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG)\, both full-time and in the reserves\, from 2004-2025. She is a retired USCG Commander and previously served as Deputy\, Planning and Incident Management. She also has held prior key leadership roles at Cobra Energy\, including Vice President of Operations\, responsible for the restoration and reconstruction projects of the transmission and distribution electrical systems in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. She also held several leadership roles at San Diego Gas & Electric\, including Director of Design\, Planning\, Construction\, and Vegetation Management. \nMs. Quiñones was born and raised in Caguas\, Puerto Rico\, and attended the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus\, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude). She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Advanced Studies in International Relations and is a licensed Professional Engineer in five states. In 1981\, at the age of 8\, political upheaval and war with neighboring Iraq forced Adrin and his family to flee Iran and immigrate to the United States. For years\, Adrin’s family remained separated across the globe until finally reuniting and settling in the San Fernando Valley. \nGrowing up\, Adrin excelled academically and worked part-time in local Valley banks to support his education. He attended Pierce College\, California State University\, Northridge (CSUN)\, and in 1996 earned a degree in Economics from the University of California\, Los Angeles (UCLA). \nEntering Public Service \nDuring his time in school\, Adrin became actively involved in civic engagements. He interned in the office of former Congressman Howard Berman and volunteered for various non-profit organizations focused on youth and civic engagement. \nAs a founding board member of Generation Next\, he dedicated his efforts to mentoring and supporting young individuals facing poverty and other challenges. \nAdrin was accepted into the prestigious CORO Fellowship Program\, gaining experience in the offices of elected officials such as Congressman Brad Sherman\, Governor Gray Davis\, and Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom Labonge. He eventually became Chief of Staff to the then Assistant Majority Leader of the California State Assembly\, Paul Krekorian. \nService in the California State Assembly \nDespite being heavily outspent\, Adrin Nazarian won an underdog campaign and was elected to the California State Assembly in November 2012. \nFor over a decade\, until 2022\, he proudly represented California’s 46th Assembly District\, spearheading key legislative initiatives and securing significant state investments in his district. Including the Hollywood Hills\, Lake Balboa\, North Hills\, North Hollywood\, Panorama City\, Sherman Oaks\, Studio City\, Toluca Lake\, Valley Glen\, Universal City\, Van Nuys\, and Valley Village. Friedman has lived in California for more than three decades. Currently\, she lives in Glendale with her husband and daughter. Friedman proudly represents California’s 30th District\, which includes Burbank\, Glendale\, West Hollywood\, and parts of Los Angeles and Pasadena. \nFriedman is committed to making meaningful progress on the issues that matter most to her district: making housing more affordable\, safeguarding access to clean water\, protecting communities from wildfires and other disasters\, and creating an economy that works for everyone. \nFriedman serves on two key committees: the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Committee on Science\, Space\, and Technology. \nBefore joining Congress\, Friedman represented the 44th district in the California State Assembly\, where she built a reputation as a tireless advocate for the environment\, housing\, and transportation. During her time in the Assembly\, she secured more than $60 million in funding for local projects like the Glendale Riverwalk\, Griffith Park safety improvements\, and upgrades to the Glendale Central Library. Gay is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County (NHS)\, a non-profit lender\, developer\, and neighborhood revitalization corporation. She has worked in the community development field for over 30 years\, focusing her efforts on rebuilding impoverished communities and creating mechanisms for community empowerment and ownership. She is a member of the NeighborWorks® National Community Initiatives Advisory Committee\, Chair of the African Diaspora\, and a member of several bank advisory councils. Some of her activities have included serving as Chair of the California Organized Investment Network (COIN)\, former board member of the National NeighborWorks® Association\, the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA)\, and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco\, Los Angeles Branch. Ms. Gay has worked for NHS since 1990\, holds an MBA degree from Pepperdine University\, and a B.S. degree in Development\, Resource and Consumer Economics from the University of California at Davis. She is a licensed minister\, married to Bob Gay\, and mother of five children. \nSince 1984\, NHS has developed and rehabilitated more than 21\,260 housing and commercial units\, placed 4.4 million families on the road to homeownership\, created 225 block clubs\, employed over 233 neighborhood youth\, and invested more than $5.35 billion back into some of Los Angeles County’s toughest neighborhoods. How can the design community plug in? \nForum Background:\nWith a series of mega-events coming to LA over the next decade\, including the FIFA World Cup in 2026 and the Olympics & Paralympics in 2028\, LA has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make radical improvements in our public realm that can have a lasting legacy for generations to come. The sad truth is that there is no clear organizing authority across LA County\, and no comprehensive plan to realize the legacy public realm improvements we were hoping for. We have simply run out of time to wait around for the cavalry… We are the cavalry! \nThis is why Los Angeles Tomorrow was launched. Our mission is to facilitate and accelerate community-powered public space improvements and neighborhood activations across LA County in advance of the series of mega-events to ensure a legacy of prosperity for all Angelenos. This is a grassroots effort\, working with local communities in historically underinvested neighborhoods to identify the projects that are already in the early stages of concept ideation and then connect them to the resources (funding\, technical services\, and agency partners) needed to realize these visions in an expedited way. \nTo do this work\, we need all hands on deck!! We are building a big-tent coalition—including community partners\, public partners\, funding partners\, and technical / design partners—to help facilitate a wide range of neighborhood-based quick-build\, low-investment\, and high-impact design interventions. We want to showcase the power of design and specifically the LA-based design community\, which has the skills\, creativity\, and passion needed to help implement high-quality community-based projects. \nForum Objectives:\nThis forum will explore the many different partnership opportunities for everyone interested in this mission! We will first share a brief overview of our mission\, process\, and projects\, and then we will dive into an interactive discussion about the specific ways that design professionals can collaborate with us and communities across LA County. We welcome all landscape architects\, architects\, planners\, urban designers\, engineers\, GCs\, and other allied professionals to join this discussion! No matter if you are a small firm or a global corporation\, there are a wide range of ways everyone can plug in and help make meaningful place-based improvements for the communities of our county. \n \nKatherine Perez – Co-Founder & Executive Director\, Los Angeles Tomorrow \nUntil recently\, Katherine was a Principal and LA Office Leader for Arup\, an international engineering\, design\, and consulting firm. With over 300 professionals in the LA Office\, she played a critical role in office management\, project pursuits\, and Arup’s role in external markets. She ran for California State Senate\, District 25 in 2016\, co-founded her own company and non-profit\, and served as the Executive Director of the Urban Land Institute\, Los Angeles District Council (ULI LA). She is a National Board member of Mercy Housing and a USC Adjunct Associate Professor. \n \nAaron Paley – Co-Founder & Strategic Director\, Los Angeles Tomorrow \nFor over four decades\, Aaron has focused on how Angelenos experience and use public space – through temporary and permanent interventions – and the nexus of event production\, arts\, community\, culture\, transportation\, urban planning\, and policy. He co-founded Community Arts Resources (CARS) with Katie Bergin to “create unique experiences where art\, culture\, community and civic life collide.” CARS incubated and co-developed CicLAvia where he served as its founding director from 2010 to 2015. CARS has produced many iconic programs including Chinatown Summer Nights\, Go Little Tokyo\, GLOW\, the Getty Family Festivals\, and the Santa Monica Festivals. \n \nRuth Siegel – Deputy Director\, Los Angeles Tomorrow \nPrior to joining Los Angeles Tomorrow\, Ruth worked as a practicing landscape architect and urban designer. Having worked at RIOS\, Studio-MLA\, and Sasaki\, she is a seasoned designer and project manager who has led both master plans and built-work projects. She has worked on many public and cultural projects\, including parks\, plazas\, botanical gardens\, playgrounds\, green alleys\, and schools. DESCRIPTION:AIA|LA City Leaders Breakfast Reception w/ Ben Allen – California State Senator\, District #24\n2024 City Leaders Breakfast Series Presented By: Gannett Fleming \nThe 2024 AIA|LA City Leaders Breakfast Series allows architects & designers and other community stakeholders to meet directly with key individuals transforming Los Angeles in a roundtable setting to discuss innovative ideas to ensure a healthy\, sustainable\, and economically competitive future. \n \nBen Allen – California State Senator\, District #24\nCalifornia State Senator Ben Allen represents the 24th Senate District\, covering the Westside\, Hollywood\, South Bay\, and Santa Monica Mountains communities of Los Angeles County. Ben was first elected in 2014 and is now serving his third term in the State Senate. \nBen chairs the Senate’s Environmental Quality Committee and co-chairs the Legislature’s Environmental Caucus\, is a member of the Legislative Jewish Caucus\, chairs the Legislature’s Joint Committee on the Arts\, and the Senate Select Committee on Aerospace and Defense. He previously served as Chair of the Education Committee (2017-2019) and Chair of the Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee (2015-2016). \nBen has thrown himself into the important work of state government\, focusing on wise decision-making and pushing for reforms that address systemic inadequacies in our state. He has authored nearly 60 new laws in various areas\, from environmental protection to electoral reform. \nDuring his first two terms in the Senate\, fighting the climate crisis and protecting our state’s precious natural resources have been among Ben’s top priorities. CalMatters recently recognized him as one of the Legislature’s foremost leaders in the field of environmental protection. He authored SB 54\, groundbreaking legislation to address plastic pollution\, which Governor Newsom signed into law to international acclaim. The New York Times called SB 54 “the most sweeping restrictions on plastics in the nation” and suggested the legislation is “another route for curbing carbon emissions and trying to sidestep the worst consequences of global warming” after the Supreme Court gutted the federal government’s power to regulate carbon emissions. As Chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee\, Ben worked with his colleagues to pass a powerful climate package requiring the state to become carbon-neutral by 2045 and produce 90% of its electricity from clean sources by 2035\, among other measures. A member of the Ocean Protection Council and Coastal Conservancy\, he has led a successful effort to phase out a dangerous carcinogen in firefighting foam\, crafted a compromise to phase out destructive trawling gear\, and brokered a major bipartisan compromise that lessened the environmental impact of off-highway vehicle use at state facilities. “If only Congress could work out such compromises\,” wrote the Sacramento Bee editorial board about the bill. \nAmong his efforts to reform California campaign finance and elections laws\, Ben authored the landmark Voter’s Choice Act of 2016 to implement more flexibility in how and where to vote\, creating the vote center model used in the 2020 elections\, which resulted in significantly increased voter turnout. Ben also has been a leader for campaign transparency\, and was a leader in passing the Disclose Act and Petition Disclose Act and other transparency measures that have dramatically improved the disclosure of donors to political causes for the public. The California Clean Money Campaign has routinely ranked him top in the Legislature for his commitment to clean money political reform. \nAn advocate for the Golden State’s continued leadership in arts and entertainment\, Ben is a member of the California Film Commission. He was part of a legislative effort to extend the Film & TV Tax Credit Program to further support and invest in California’s unrivaled film industry. Ben also authored the law that reinstated teaching credentials for theatre and dance educators\, and he continues to fight for expanded access to the arts in schools and underserved communities. Ben has been a champion for science and was a joint author of the state’s groundbreaking law that increased vaccination rates among school children. \nPrior to his election to the Senate\, Ben served as President of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education\, lecturer at UCLA Law School\, and worked as an attorney at the law firms of Bryan Cave LLP and Richardson & Patel and at the nonprofit Spark Program. While at law school\, Ben served as the voting student member of the University of California Board of Regents and was a summer judicial clerk with the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Prior to law school\, Ben worked in Washington DC for the Latin American team of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)\, and then as Communications Director for Congressman Jose Serrano (D-NY). \nBen grew up in the 24th Senate District and attended public schools\, graduating from Santa Monica High School in 1996. His father\, Michael\, spent his career on the English Department faculty at UCLA and mother\, Elena\, was a public school teacher and artist who served as Chair of the Santa Monica Arts Commission. Quijada de Franke – Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Facilities\, Planning and Sustainability\, Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD)\nMs. Peggy M. Quijada de Franke is the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Facilities\, Planning\, and Sustainability at the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). She is a California-Licensed Professional Engineer with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering – Structures- and a Master of Business and Administration. \nMs. Quijada has more than 26 years of experience in engineering\, planning\, and management and joined LACCD in 2014 as a Facilities Project Manager. She was promoted to Director of the Facilities\, Planning\, and Development (FPD) Department in 2020 and advanced to her current role in 2023. \nMs. Quijada is dedicated to fulfilling LACCD’s vision of providing high-quality and easily accessible educational opportunities for students. She believes in celebrating the area’s diverse cultures and strengthening the regional economy. As such\, her responsibility is to provide state-of-the-art facilities that foster a productive learning environment for all students\, which entails enhancing\, restoring\, or expanding the health and functionality of 742 buildings (11.6 million OGSF) across LACCD’s nine colleges and satellite campuses. \nAs an AVC\, Ms. Quijada is helping LACCD meet the sustainability goals of eliminating carbon-based electricity consumption by 2030 and other carbon-based energy use by 2040 and replacing it with clean\, renewable\, and sustainable energy sources. To this end\, she oversees the development and implementation of more than 300 Clean Energy projects\, Schedule Maintenance Projects (SMPs)\, and Deferred Maintenance projects. \nBefore joining LACCD\, Ms. Quijada worked in the energy industry on national and international oil and nuclear power infrastructure projects. She developed seismic hazard maps to design new structures and retrofit existing infrastructure. Carvalho – Superintendent\, Los Angeles Unified School District\nAlberto M. Carvalho has served as Superintendent of Los Angeles Unified School District\, the nation’s second-largest school district\, since February 2022. He was selected by the Los Angeles Unified Board of Education in a unanimous vote following a comprehensive community engagement process and a nationwide search. \nSince starting at Los Angeles Unified\, Superintendent Carvalho has led the development and implementation of the District’s unanimously approved 2022-2026 Ready for the World Strategic Plan. Numerous initiatives and ideas have enhanced the plan\, including the launch of the STEAM Lab Makerspaces\, Education Transformation Office\, Cultural Arts Passport\, and Family Academy. Through Superintendent Carvalho’s leadership\, Los Angeles Unified has also established seven new education compacts between the District and local municipalities\, made significant progress in greening schools\, and secured upgraded credit ratings\, generating millions in savings. \nDuring his 14-year tenure as Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS)\, Superintendent Carvalho garnered local\, state\, national\, and international recognition. His honors include being named Florida’s 2014 Superintendent of the Year\, the 2014 National Superintendent of the Year\, the 2016 winner of the Harold W. McGraw Prize in Education\, the 2018 National Urban Superintendent of the Year\, and the 2019 National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) Superintendent of the Year. \nUnder his leadership\, M-DCPS became one of the nation’s highest-performing urban school systems\, receiving systemwide accreditation from AdvancEd in 2014 and 2019. M-DCPS was named the 2014 College Board Advanced Placement Equity and Excellence District of the Year and the 2012 winner of the Broad Prize for Urban Education. Superintendent Carvalho is now seeking to elevate Los Angeles Unified to the premier spot in American urban education. \nSuperintendent Carvalho was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Education to serve on the National Assessment Governing Board. He has served as a committee member for the National Academies of Science\, Engineering\, and Medicine and is currently serving as an Advisory Committee Member to the Harvard Program on Education Policy and Governance. Superintendent Carvalho is also a dedicated member of the Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council\, the National Board of Directors for Common Threads the Posse Foundation\, the Aspen Institute’s Planet Media Task Force\, and code.org. \nSuperintendent Carvalho has been awarded many honorary degrees. LAHSA is the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care and coordinates and manages federal\, state\, county\, and city funds for programs providing shelter\, housing\, and services to people experiencing homelessness. Immediately before joining LAHSA\, Dr. Adams Kellum spent a month consulting with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to shape the Inside Safe program. \nDr. Adams Kellum is perhaps best known for her time as President and CEO of St. Joseph Center\, a social service organization offering outreach & engagement\, housing\, mental health\, and education & vocational programs across Los Angeles County. The Center is a trailblazer in deploying integrated\, multidisciplinary teams to help the most vulnerable homeless individuals obtain and maintain stable housing. Under her leadership\, St. Joseph Center nearly quadrupled its staff\, expanded its services\, and broadened its geographic reach\, becoming a recognized leader in homeless services throughout LA County. \nDr. Adams Kellum holds a gubernatorial appointment to the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s No Place Like Home Program Advisory Committee. She has also served on and continues to support the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority Ad Hoc Committee on Black People Experiencing Homelessness\, as well as the National Alliance to End Homelessness’ Race Equity Network. She currently sits on the Housing California Board\, Policy Lab Advisory Board\, and the Board of Trustees for Mount Saint Mary’s University.
