DESCRIPTION:AIA|LA City Leaders Breakfast Reception w/ Michael Baim – VP\, Venue Infrastructure (VNI)\, Energy (NRG)\, and Look & Sign (LNS)\, LA 28\n2025 City Leaders Breakfast Series Presented By:  \nThe 2025 AIA|LA City Leaders Breakfast Series allows architects & designers\, and other community stakeholders to meet directly with key individuals transforming Los Angeles in a roundtable setting to discuss innovative ideas to ensure a healthy\, sustainable\, and economically competitive future. \n  \n \n  \nMichael Baim – VP\, Venue Infrastructure (VNI)\, Energy (NRG)\, and Look & Sign (LNS)\, LA 28\nMike Baim joined LA28 as the Vice President of Venue Infrastructure in April of 2025. He oversees design\, planning\, procurement\, and delivery of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games venue infrastructure\, energy\, look\, and signage. \nMike served in the U.S. Army as an engineer officer\, completing more than 27 years on active duty\, including tours in Nicaragua\, Germany\, Iraq\, and Afghanistan. He commanded and led engineers and technicians in arduous environments\, including disaster relief and other operations. Mike holds numerous military awards and decorations\, including the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat action. \nMike graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado\, Boulder\, CO. He is a graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies\, Fort Leavenworth\, KS\, and the U.S. Army War College\, Carlisle Barracks\, PA. As the General Manager\, Laura leads a multi-disciplinary department responsible for advancing the safe and efficient multi-modal movement of people and goods within the City. \nPrior to joining the City of Los Angeles\, Laura served as the Director of Transportation for the City of Pasadena and as Deputy Executive Officer of Countywide Planning with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). \nLaura received a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California\, Los Angeles\, and a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College. He developed the Department’s Green Building Division to implement the Los Angeles Green Building Code. Osama Younan is a licensed Mechanical Engineer with the State of California and a LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council. Osama Younan serves as the Chair of the Green Building Committee for the Los Angeles Basin Chapter which represents eighty-nine jurisdictions in Southern California\, he serves on the Green Building Code Advisory Committee for the California Building Standards Commission that provides recommendations regarding the development of the CALGreen Code\, and he serves on the ASHREA Standard 189.1 Committee “Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings”. \nOsama Younan is a Licensed Professional Engineer\, LEED Accredited Professional\, and he oversees the operations of all the bureaus in the department.
