SUMMARY:Advanced Framing: Quality Building with Less Lumber
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nMost houses are built with a surplus of wood framing that isn’t structurally necessary. Reducing that volume of wood means less cost and more insulation\, especially in wall assemblies. The course will go over the basics of wood framing\, then take you beyond typical framing practices and why alternatives are important. We’ll cover framing technical terms like “O.C.\,” Cripple\, Trimmer\, etc. and delve into alternative systems such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS). We’ll discuss Framing Factors and how they affect your energy compliance report. This course will also cover the origin of Advanced Framing and why it’s a great choice when framing buildings with wood\, even with exterior clad insulation. \nThis is a virtual event. California is aiming to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by requiring more light\, medium\, and heavy-duty EV charging opportunities for the increased forecast of EV on California’s roadways. Part of that solution is providing more charging opportunities in new construction and major retrofits as the customer demand for charging increases. \nThis training summarizes the new and revised requirements in the California Green Building Code for light\, medium\, and heavy-duty EV requirements\, and directs participants to informational resources that provide more in-depth information. These new requirements are mandated for multiple building types and parking lot designs for new construction and major retrofits.
