DESCRIPTION:Click here for Ticket Purchase Instructions & Support.\nEVENT DETAILS\nOn Friday\, April 17th\, 2026\, the AIA Los Angeles Committee on the Environment (COTE) is proud to host the 9th annual 1.5°C Symposium on Climate Change. This year’s symposium shifts the conversation from policy to practice\, and from intention to action. \nIn a time of political uncertainty and climate urgency\, this event asks: How can individuals\, firms\, and communities drive real\, tangible change? The 2026 Symposium will explore how climate action is scaled across projects of every size\, within firms of every structure\, and across sectors often siloed from each other. From small-scale pro-bono efforts to market-driven green development\, the event will celebrate and elevate practical\, resilient\, and replicable strategies Attendees will engage with Southern California–based impact projects\, sector-specific insights\, and a network of collaborators reimagining what’s possible. Our goal is to democratize knowledge\, strengthen cross-sector connections\, and accelerate a just transition in the built environment. \n \nWORKSHOP INFO\nClick here to view the 1.5°C Symposium on Climate Change Workshop Sessions. \n\nPlease note:\n\n\nWe have 5 workshop sessions available during the conference.\nSession A\, Session B\, Session C\, Session D\,  & Session E.\nEach attendee may select ONE workshop per session.\nPlease note: Each session has capacity limits and seating will be first come first served!\nYou may select your workshop preferences when purchasing your ticket.\n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\n1. SUMMARY:PURPOSEFUL 2025: ATTENTION\, PREVENTION\, INTERVENTION – Linking the Modalities of Behavioral Health Care
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \nBehavioral and mental health care encompasses a broad array of treatments\, and a range of nuanced facility types has been created in response. Addressing them separately does not acknowledge the comprehensive nature of treatment\, or the unique way a given individual might navigate the offerings. \nPurposeful 2025 asks us to envision new ways to physically connect the range of care modalities\, and to envision a way to fluidly merge the prevention\, attention\, and intervention processes of behavioral health treatment to eliminate stigma and isolation\, and infuse care with social needs and family involvement. The pressure to expedite the implementation of new care facilities is pushing us to build more of what we are already familiar with. \nIn Purposeful 2025\, we ask ourselves: Is this the right response? \n  \nPlease click HERE to view the Speaker Line-Up & Sponsorship Opportunities for Purposeful!

SUMMARY:Creatives in Conversation 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the new AIA|LA home for the fifth installment of Creatives in Conversation for presentations and discussions with four multi-disciplinary creatives whose work includes installation art\, mixed-media\, sculpture\, filmmaking\, immersive media\, printmaking\, technology\, and architecture as event. This is a must-attend event to inspire your design mojo! \nIt’s time once again to recharge your brain and get your imaginative heart thumping at the fifth installment of Creatives in Conversation! Four creative practitioners from outside the architectural design world will present their work and inspiration at the new home for AIA|LA and ACLA. \nThis event allows us in the architecture community to view the creative process from new perspectives and obtain new insight into our own path. Once again there will be a diverse group of presenters whose multi-disciplinary work includes installation art\, mixed-media\, sculpture\, filmmaking\, immersive media\, printmaking\, technology\, and architecture as event. \nThe gathering will be moderated by two industry leaders known for their own work integrating art and architecture. As always\, the discussion should stimulate new creative viewpoints and audience participation. \nDon’t miss out on this opportunity to feed your ingenuity! \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n1: Participants will learn creative parallels by understanding various perspectives and approaches to the concept of creativity through design disciplines outside of architecture.\n \n2: Participants will learn interdisciplinary approaches by exploring in-depth the value other design fields bring to places and events. They will also consider how architects can collaborate with these disciplines in a world becoming rapidly interdependent.\n \n3: Participants will gain a new lens on architectural design by understanding and drawing inspiration from ways that other design fields approach space as an element and manipulate it as part of their narrative presentation.\n \n4: Participants will learn about narrative and human experience by identifying various forms of storytelling\, its central role in the creative act\, and the many methods of expressing story.
