Accurate Perspectives in 12 Quick Steps Workshop
Need a quick way to communicate 3-dimensional ideas? Accurate Perspectives in 12 Quick Steps is a method that's both efficient and fun. Learn to draw ground view and aerial perspectives of buildings, plus structural and free-flowing spaces. The workshop is led by landscape architect, illustrator, and artist Richard Scott. A popular instructor for UCLA Extension, Cal Poly Pomona, and Art Center, Scott also teaches a series of skill-enhancing workshops throughout California.

Course meets Fri-Sun, Aug 24-26, in Westwood.

Green Roofs Workshop
Green roofs (planted roofs) help reduce the urban heat island effect, save energy, and improve air quality by absorbing CO2 and other pollutants. This course covers structural considerations, roofing materials, plant material, soil composition and custom soils, and irrigation with a focus on Southern California's climate and seasons. The class begins with a visit to the green roofs at the Vista Hermosa Park and then continues with class materials and lecture at Figueroa Courtyard.

Working through the Permitting Process with Cities and Municipalities Workshop This half-day course prepares the design professional for success when expediting the many levels of bureaucracy in city and county government. Instruction covers getting plans approved, requirements of the professional services consultant or contractor to government agencies, successfully obtaining a building permit, estimating time, and best billing practices. This course is team taught by recognized experts in site plan review, plan check approval, and zoning.

Introduction to Google SketchUp Workshop
This workshop is designed to teach working professionals and students about SketchUp, a software program specifically geared toward landscape architects, architects, and planners. Students learn the various ways SketchUp can be used to design, analyze, and present information and projects.

LARE Section 1: An Intensive Review Workshop
Designed for students who are preparing to take the LARE Section 1: Project and Construction Administration, this workshop covers the knowledge and skills associated with regulations, contracts, and construction administration processes. Taught by Angela Woodward, BSLA, landscape architect (CA 2126)

LARE Section 2: An Intensive Review
Designed for students who are preparing to take the LARE Section 2: Inventory and Analysis, this workshop covers the knowledge and skills related to inventory, data gathering, analysis, programming, regional land use planning, site land use planning, and principles of design. Advance enrollment required; no enrollment at the door. Taught by Angela Woodward, BSLA, landscape architect (CA 2126)
