AIA|LA is happy to announce the addition of the Marmont Resident by (fer)studios to our Home Tour this October 28, 2012! The Marmont residence is a beautiful residential remodel and expansion, completed in 2009 and located in the hills above Sunset Blvd.

Marmont Residence

The Marmont Residence is located in the hills above Sunset Boulevard with 180 degree views of Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Brentwood below. After an extensive interior and exterior remodel and addition by architecture firm, form environment research (fer) studio, the original 1,800 SF 1980's home is now a 4,500 SF contemporary residence with 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a media room, and home office.

The owner, a frequent traveler to South East Asia, desired a look that fused an Asian expression with a modern contemporary aesthetic. The approach was to incorporate rich natural materials, indoor-outdoor living and create dedicated areas to display the owners vast collection of artifacts. The exterior of the home is enveloped in red mangaris exterior wood cladding; indoor and outdoor spaces flow into one another through retractable doors, full height glass walls, and harmonized materials; and artifacts are peppered throughout in display nooks, on axis, and as focal points.
