For professionals and enthusiasts of art, design and architecture, there is always a moment or epiphany when one realizes that design somehow has an impact in their lives. From all ages and all over the world, we all have a design story. What is yours?
AIA|LA Advocacy Director, Will Wright, states that his began at eight years old. "When did design become so damn important to me? It took me several years to realize the answer." He said, "Design scratched the surface of my subconscious December 1979, when my grandmother gave me a gigantic roll of blank newspaper stock." With the stock he drew elaborate maps of his Texas suburban neighborhood. "The neighborhood grid pattern was my playground and its borders enabled easy access to unchartered territory," Wright continues. (Click here to read the full story.)
AIA Los Angeles invites you to share your design story with us. In 1000 words or less, please describe your design epiphany, when did you know you had a taste for design? How did you express it? Tell us your experience, history, anecdote or visions of your design world!
