Map of Los Angeles Buildings by African American Architects Debuts at NOMA 2016 Conference

October 12, 2016, Los Angeles -- A map featuring buildings by African American Architects in Los Angeles was released to the public today at the 2016 National Organization of Minority Architects conference. The endeavor highlights projects located in and around Los Angeles where African American Architects were significant contributors.  Through this “living document,” a database of such projects will be maintained and updated periodically for the use and education of future generations.  A physical take-home version will be given to attendees of the 2016 NOMA Conference, as well as hosted on various organization websites for download and viewing online.

The Map of Featured Los Angeles Buildings by African American Architects project is sponsored by Gruen Associates, the Los Angeles Chapter of The American Institute of Architects (AIA|LA), The Center for Architecture and Urban Design Los Angeles (CALA), the Southern California chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (SoCalNOMA), and ARC Document Solutions, with Gruen Associates taking the lead. We hope this effort serves as a launch pad for initiatives to highlight the contributions of other underrepresented groups.
