Design Awards Shocker: NEIL DENARI ARCHITECTS Takes home both BEST IN SHOW awards and the Gold Medal Presidential Award at the AIA|LA Design Awards
... ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED OCTOBER 26 AT THE PDC
The Best in Show awards for the 2011 AIA|LA Design Awards' Next LA and Design Awards categories were announced last Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Italian Living Umbria showroom at the Pacific Design Center.
Audience members did not expect, nor did respective jury members, that the two Best in Show awards would be given to the same architect: Neil M. Denari, who had already been awarded the Gold Medal Presidential Honor.
Denari won Next LA's Best in Show for his "No Mass House," located in the Palisades. Described as a single-family residence that gives the appearance of mass without the massiveness. The Next LA Jury unanimously chose this home for its appearance of a past future and for its conscious effort on incorporating consumerist culture into the details.
Denari took the Design Awards Best in Show for his HL23 building located in New York City. The building incorporates the public space with its grandeur, but also holds true to the privacy the luxury condominium must offer its tenants.
The AIA|LA Design Awards never fail to surprise, and by the looks of it, it seems that this year is Neil M. Denari's year on Los Angeles architecture!
The show must go on and our other winners will be revealed at the Design Awards Ceremony & Party at the Pacific Design Center's Silver Screen Room.
