The Planning Department Office of Historic Resources is looking for architects and historic preservation-minded individuals to serve as board members on some of our Historic Preservation Overlay Zones (HPOZs). We currently have a number of vacant positions and thought we might turn to you to assist us in spreading the word among your membership. Please pass this email along to your members, ideally in particular those who may reside in an HPOZ or have experience or an interest in volunteering their time on a design review board.
Serving on an HPOZ Board is a great opportunity for both experienced and emerging professionals to get to know the historic neighborhoods of Los Angeles and become a part of the design review process that shapes these communities.
Specifically, we are looking for new board members who would be appointed by the Cultural Heritage Commission. The appointees must meet two criteria under the HPOZ ordinance: 1) They must be a licensed architect; and 2) an owner of property or resident of the district.
Here is a list of HPOZ with a need for additional Board Members. More information is available by clicking on the HPOZ name:

Please help us by spreading the word to a targeted list of individuals who you think would meet these qualifications. We are looking to fill the seats before the end of this calendar year. Anyone who is interested should submit a resume and brief statement of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org.
More information about the City's HPOZ Program can be found on the the City's Office of Historic Resources webpage. The Planning Department will gladly provide training for all new Board Members.
