In just five weeks, our second session of the Architectural Mentoring Program, originally created in collaboration with the AIA Los Angeles chapter, will begin at the Para Los Niños Family Learning Complex, a school that serves students living in the poorest communities of Los Angeles.
The program will consist of two 10-week semesters in which a group of mentors guide our sixth graders on a broad range of topics, including Architecture History and Theory, Site Planning and Building Design, Construction Methods, Structures, etc. The first semester will begin on 9/12/12 and take place every Wednesday (1:00pm- 3:00pm) until 11/14/12. The second semester is scheduled to begin on 4/17/13.
There are many different ways in which you can participate!
- Be a Mentor
- Raise funds, resources, and enlist mentors for the program
- Participate in a field trip
- Help our Curriculum Development Committee develop lesson plans for the semester
