AIA|LA Design Conference 2011 A Success!

The 2011 AIA|LA Design Conference, (formerly Mobius LA), successfully finished it's 5th year as part of Dwell on Design at the LA Convention Center.

The two-day event began with Fridays, "The Transportation Symposium." The symposium opened exciting and inspirational dialogues between some of the leading design figures in Los Angeles and across the country including, Francis Anderton, Hon. AIA, Senator Alan Lowenthal, Prof. Biran D. Taylor, Hon. Jan Perry (click here to read full list). Candid talks allowed for participants to discuss openly how to create a more sustainable, transportation friendly community in Los Angeles. Topics included: "The History of the Future of Los Angeles," "Walking the Hood," as well as the presentation of case studies of successful uses of public transportation.

Friday closed with the Restaurant Design Awards Ceremony at the Sustainability stage. For more information on the Restaurant Design Awards please click here.

Professional development seminars took over the second day, allowing attendees the opportunity to both earn continuing education units as well as network without having to travel outside of Los Angeles!

The entire weekend provided visitors with the chance to view the AIA|LA booth on the Dwell on Design showroom floor, showcased were photographs of AIA|LA members' work, both built and unbuilt.

Thank you to all who attended! We look forward to next year!
