ARCHITECTURAL ENTRIES ON DISPLAY THROUGHOUT THE CITY

In celebration of the Architectural Awards season, on October 2nd, the AIA Los Angeles will install a traveling starting at Helms Bakery, continuing to Los Angeles Union Station and ending at the Century City Mall. The is designed by architect/artist, Matthew Gillis and sponsored by Lighting Design Alliance. The dynamic, illuminated display will feature images from the wide range of architectural projects entered into the competition, including both built work (Design Awards category) and unbuilt conceptual drawings (NEXT LA category).

"The design awards committee wanted to make sure this year that the annual exhibition, featuring all entries to the AIA|LA design awards competition, would break the boundaries of a single exhibition space and reach out to the community at large," says Carlo Caccavale, Hon. AIA|LA, associate director of the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIA. "Matthew has conceptualized an intriguing installation to showcase the incredible talent and design variety of the Los Angeles architectural community."

The exhibit will remain on display at Helms from October 2 - 21, at which time it will move to Union Station (October 22-November 18), and subsequently to the Century City Mall (November 18 - December 2). Winners of the competition will be announced in a ceremony on the evening of October 22nd at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica. Tickets for that event are available on the AIA Los Angeles website, www.aialosangeles.org.
