Breakfast Series – Meeting with Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Mayor

Los Angeles July 17, 2017

AIA|LA invited Mayor Garcetti   to discuss issues of urban design and the role AIA|LA members can play in developing a sustainable and, simply out, beautiful city in the future.

Structured as a town hall meeting, the mayor answered questions selected among many asked by the members: How to make sure architects play a role in the future of LA; what is a beautiful city and how can the city best utilize the resources provided by AIA|LA. The mayor also discussed issues of deregulations (parking requirements, investment in green spaces), social concerns (will our children be able to live in LA?) and the 2028 Olympic games. Before the mayor’s arrival, we asked the members attending the event (about 45, mostly principals) what they expect from AIA|LA.
