Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and a leading voice in the ongoing debate about financial industry reform, will headline The Greenlining Institute's 17th annual Economic Summit, "Rebuilding the American Dream," taking place April 9.
The day-long event in downtown Los Angeles will focus on how to restore the American promise of prosperity for all citizens in an era when the cost of higher education is skyrocketing, home ownership is imperiled by rising foreclosure rates, and the state's budget crisis is putting vital services at risk. In addition to Chairman Frank, speakers will include Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg, California Public Utilities Commission President Michael Peevey, Bank of America Home Loans President Barbara Desoer, California Endowment President and CEO Dr. Robert Ross, and Los Angeles City Councilmember Richard Alarcon. Roughly 1,000 business, community and political leaders are expected to attend.
