You're invited to help celebrate National Architecture Week 2010! Plans are in place to kick off this important celebration of all things architecture April 11-17. This year's focus is Design Matters. Architecture Week 2010 begins a yearlong conversation about the power and legacy of architecture and architects' contributions to their communities. But, this effort is not complete without your component showcasing your local architecture week observances or ways in which your firms create design that matters for creating healthy, sustainable communities.
How? The Institute's Architecture Week 2010 Facebook page, which launches April 1, will be the hub for online discussions about why design matters, accompanied by videos posted to the AIA National YouTube Channel, the AIA Shape of America Web site, and occasional live chats on Twitter. AIA National's National Architecture Week will be just one aspect featured on the Facebook page. Your images, videos, and comments are invited and we encourage you to share the invitation with your clients, colleagues, and community.
We're providing an opportunity to give your local architecture week observances or design awards recipients national exposure by featuring links to your events, Web sites, videos, photos-whatever digital content you have for your architecture week observance-on the Facebook page as well. With your help throughout the year, we will build a compelling showcase of multimedia presentations that prominently feature all of the public celebrations and conversations taking place around the nation about the impact of architecture on our lives.
Specific information about how to post to the Facebook page will be included in the March 17 issue of Component NewsFlash. Promotional announcements regarding Architecture Week 2010 will begin with tomorrow's issue of AIArchitect. We'll continue to promote Architecture Week 2010 in the Institute Update and Component NewsFlash, as well as through aia.org and our social networking sites, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
Mark your calendars now for Architecture Week 2010, April 11-17. Plan to join the conversations and add your examples of why Design Matters.
