ACCESSIBILITY IN NEW RETAIL ESTABLISHMENTS: WALKING THROUGH YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SHOPS (AM Class): This course lets you take a walk through a typical retail establishment and learn all about the accessibility requirements that impact the customer and employee experience. Emphasis will be placed on the process of getting from the parking area to the retail establishment, with discussion about curb cuts, ramps, sidewalks, and entrances. Within the space, the course will touch on interior aisles and paths, checkstands, stairs, elevators, fitting rooms, public and employee restrooms, and theft prevention barriers.

ACCESSIBILITY IN NEW AND EXISTING ASSEMBLY OCCUPANCIES: FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK-OF-HOUSE (PM Class): This course discusses key assembly occupancy requirements pertaining to public and employee/performer spaces. You will learn about theaters and similar fixed seating venues, restaurants, and general purpose multi-purpose assembly spaces. Requirements related to new versus existing facilities will also be examined in this course.

CLASS LOCATIONS & PARKING

All classes are held in the AIA Los Angeles Chapter Office at the Wiltern Center, 3780 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 800 Los Angeles, CA 90010 (corner of Western/Wilshire).

Parking is available for $8 at the Ralphs/Wiltern Structure or on surrounding side streets (but be sure to read all posted parking signs).
