All Downtown-ers are cordially invited to attend an update meeting regarding the proposed pocket park at 9th & Hill:
Thursday, March 25 @ 7pm
Wurlitzer Building|816 S. Broadway|Los Angeles, CA 90014
Pizza and refreshments provided.
ISSUE: Los Angeles City Council Member José Huizar worked with the Downtown community to submit a grant proposal for $5 million in voter-approved Proposition 84 funds which would support a pocket park on 9th and Hill. The hope is to acquire and convert a parking lot into a mini-green oasis in the dense downtown neighborhood. The .7-acre park could feature California native and drought tolerant plants and trees, a children's play area, a performance stage, a walking path with outdoor fitness stations, grass areas for sitting and open play, a plaza area for gatherings and events, as well as solar security lighting for safety.
STATUS: Prop 84 is a limited fund. Of the approximately 1,000 applications, only 5 to 10% of applications will receive funding from Prop 84. Decisions will be made about grant funding at the state level. Please attend this meeting on Thursday March 25 for a project update and to begin working with representatives from the state elected offices which represent the area.
