Associate "New Grad" Membership: What’s in it for me?

FREE MEMBERSHIP for recent graduates from NAAB programs!**

Dear New Graduate and Prospective Associate AIA Member:

If you fall under one of the following categories, you’re invited to be a part of the leading organization representing the profession, The American Institute of Architects (AIA,) as an Associate member:

  • Recent graduate (2010 or 2011) with a degree in architecture

  • Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working toward licensure

  • Currently work under the supervision of an architect or hold a degree in architecture

  • Faculty member (not licensed) in a university program in architecture

Right now Associate membership is FREE through the end of 2011 for 2010 graduates joining through the AIA/Los Angeles Chapter.*

  • Discounted or free admission to monthly Committee Events on topics like the environment, health care, interiors, historic preservation, and urban design—plus our New Beginnings series of panel discussions presented by the AIA/LA Emerging Architects/Young Architects Forum

  • Discounts on admission to our ARE Preparation Seminars, Home Tours, Awards Gala, and our Masters of Architecture lecture series at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, featuring architects at the forefront of their field.

  • Invitation-only Chapter events such as the Board Installation & Holiday Party in December

*First year regular dues for Associates are currently $275; Second year dues are currently $302; for the third year and each year thereafter, $333. Second year dues apply after the free New Graduate membership period has ended.

** Recent Graduates: Complimentary Membership Offer The AIA national component, California Council and AIA Los Angeles extend a special offer to individuals who have graduated with a degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited school of Architecture. You must provide a copy of your diploma. You must live or work in the AIA/LA Chapter territory and have graduated from an NAAB accredited program in the past 18 months to be eligible. This offer provides qualified individuals up to 18 months of free Associate membership in the AIA.
