LArchitecture Month

LArchitecture Month :: Celebrate the Field

The month of October was first officially proclaimed Architecture Month by the City of Los Angeles in 2007* to further awareness and the role of architecture and design in our City. The month-long celebration brings together diverse professional and public-interest groups, including AIA Los Angeles and a host of participating organizations.

We’re already planning for 2016.

Last year’s programming including visits to Lautner's Sheats-Goldstein Residence and the Bradbury Building.  Led by Li Wen, AIA and Brenda Levin, FAIA, the latter tour was augmented by artist Michael C. McMillen who provided illuminating stories about the integration of the location in the seminal Los Angeles film Bladerunner. Expect programming that appeals to the public sector to broaden in 2016.

The initiative was formally declared by Los Angeles 4th District Councilman Tom La Bonge and Mayor Antonio Villaragosa on Friday October 12, 2007 at City Hall.
