Emerging Professional Series: Mentorship Mixer

The 2015 AIA|LA Emerging Professional Series :: a roadmap for design professionals passionate about becoming architects

WHEN:Wednesday, April 15th (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
WHERE: ZGF Architects, 515 S Flower St., #3700, Los Angeles, CA 90071

AIA & AIA Associate Members = free
non-members = $20.00

The Mentorship Mixers connect to segments of the AIA LA membership base: experienced architects (mentors) with less experienced designers (protégées). The intent is to provide Emerging Professionals and/or Associate Members with greater support and guidance from the professionally licensed community of Architects. The mixer events are set up as a way for self-identified mentors and protégées to match up through structured conversation and networking. Beverages and snacks will be served and rounds of conversation topics will be initiated. If at the end of the event, a match doesn’t occur naturally, AIA will assign pairings upon request. It is a one year commitment to be a Mentor or Protégée in which time the pair meets an average of every other month (six times a year) – either for coffee, lunch, or simply at work – to go over topics such as Intern Development Program (IDP) hours and guidelines, career advice, work strategies, or construction site exposure through mentor’s projects site tours. Mentors and protégées can be from the same firm or completely different companies; they may have met before or met for the first time at the mixer event.

Both sides sign a simple contract at the end of the event to solidify expectations, commitment to regular meetings, and exchange contact information.
