French architect and landscape designer Odile Decq came to international renown in 1990 when she won her first major commission: La Banque Populaire de l’Ouest headquarters in Rennes, France. Her early and unusual career was acknowledged in 1996 by the Golden Lion of Architecture award at the Venice Biennale. Odile Decq’s work materializes a complete universe that embraces urban planning, architecture, design and art. Her multidisciplinary approach was recognized in 2013 when she received the title of Maison & Objet’s Designer of the Year and the Prix Femme Architecte. In 2014, she received the Médaille de Vermeil et d’Honneur from the French Architecture Academy. She was awarded the Jane Drew Prize in the 2016 Architectural Review Women in Architecture Awards.

Odile Decq has designed several buildings that have marked French and international contemporary architecture. Among her recent projects are: MACRO, Museum of Contemporary Art (Rome, 2010); Phantom, Opera Garnier’s restaurant (Paris, 2011); FRAC Bretagne (Rennes, 2012); GL Events headquarters (Lyon, 2014); Fangshan Museum (Nanjing, China, 2015); the internationally acclaimed Residence Saint-Ange (France, 2015); and Le Cargo, a media start-up incubator building of 16000 square meters (Paris, 2016).

Odile Decq has been teaching architecture for the past 25 years, a commitment ratified by the opening in 2014 of her own school in Lyon, France: Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Strategies in Architecture.
