LBL Architects recently completed a comprehensive site campus plan for LAC+USC Medical Center. The focus of the planning exercise was on a number of issues, including:

1. Addressing the integration of the underdeveloped West Campus, with the heavily built-up East Campus.
2. Finding opportunities to use the campus to promote and encourage community wellness, involvement, and education.
3. Identifying the most pressing community concerns and needs that might be addressed by the Medical Center.
4. Improving the overall site use of the existing campus.
5. Identifying opportunities for enhanced ambulatory care services.
6. Preserving site for possible expansion of inpatient services.
7. Identifying possible campus integration ideas with the adjacent USC Health Sciences Campus.

LBL’s team was broad and multi-disciplinary. A community-based outreach program was used to garner community input on a number of areas of interest to the County. The County’s stakeholder groups included a number of existing County departments with varying degrees of engagement with the Medical Center.

LBL will present a high-level summary of the key aspects of the study, the community outreach efforts, the areas of investigation, and the study recommendations that will hopefully shape the 100-year old campus for many years to come.
