Cedars Sinai Surgery Expansion Project –

The Collaborative Process of Right Sizing the OR

When: Wednesday – October 26, 2016 From 4:30pm - 6:30pm

Where: CO Architects Office - 5055 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036

As part of their Facility Master Plan, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) embarked on an advanced technology surgical suite in the shelled Fourth Level of the Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion (AHSP). In order to accommodate the master plan of 23 total outpatient OR’s in the AHSP, the 45,000 sf floorplate would need to accommodate 15 universal operating rooms, prep/ recovery and support space.

Cedars Sinai and CO Architects developed an inclusive approach to the planning and design process. Through the use of multiple user groups, one-on-one meetings with the key surgeons, multiple mock-ups and surgical simulations, the team was able to gain the trust, confidence and buy-in from all they key stakeholders on the critical issues of universal design; including rightsizing of the rooms, OR integration and boom configuration.
