For this month's meeting of the Committee on Architecture in Healthcare, on Wednesday, January 21st, we are pleased to offer a tour of the Lundquist Tower at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

This project by HMC Architects was opened on November 16, 2014 and includes 256 Inpatient Beds, 12 OR Rooms, 6 Interventional Radiology Rooms, a Healing Garden and multiple connections to the existing hospital. The seven-story, 390,000-SF replacement tower includes a basement and penthouse, and connects to the existing facility by way of a tunnel at the basement and connections to the first and second floors, offering views to a healing garden. Gently curved nurses’ stations allow for better care and visibility of patient rooms.
