Programming, Planning and Practice :: ARE Workshop

This workshop will cover the Programming, Planning, and Practice Division of the Architectural Registration Exam. The workshop provides information about the application of project development knowledge and skills relating to architectural programming; environmental, social, and economic issues; codes and regulations; and project and practice management. There will be a vignette study to cover site zoning and regulations.

  • About the Presenters:


    James McLane, AIA

    Mr. McLane is Associate Principal of Architectural Resources Group, Inc. in Pasadena, CA, a firm which specializes in Historic Preservation and Historic Architecture. He is also the Chair of the Historic Resources Committee within the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles Chapter. Mr. McLane has over 30 years of experience in architectural design, building, project management, and historic preservation.


    Heidi Creighton, AIA LEED AP BD+C EBOM

    Heidi Creighton is a Sustainability Consultant in Buro Happold’s Los Angeles office specializing in sustainable technologies and the LEED certification process. She provides sustainability project management including project workshops, feasibility studies, sustainability design analysis, green cost implications, technical support, and contractor workshops. With more than 13 years of experience in the AEC industry, Heidi has worked on all project phases, from pre-design through construction administration, on numerous projects.


    Michael Hricak, FAIA

    Mr. Hricak has more than 30 years of experience in design, programming, construction and management and founded his own firm, Michael Hricak Architects, in 2004. Mr. Hirack is a graduate of USC and Harvard University, Graduate School of Design. He also serves on the Board of Councilors at the USC School of Architecture and is a Member of the Alumni Council for Harvard University, Graduate School Of Design.
