Many states require that architects obtain continuing education unit (CEU) credits annually, in order to maintain their registration or licensure. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES) offers continuing education courses. The Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics (TCAA) is an AIA/CES Registered Provider of this standardized introductory short course for architects, called “Architectural Acoustics”.

An architect will earn a One-hour AIA/CES Learning Unit with HSW Credit (Health Safety and Welfare) by attending this short course.

All architects and designers are welcomed, even if the CEU credit is not of particular concern.

Architects who desire that their projects provide quality acoustical environments should have a working familiarity with three main topics of architectural acoustics:
1) Sound Isolation (airborne & structureborne)
2) HVAC Noise Control
3) Finish Treatments (primarily sound absorption in this course)

The author of the program content is K. Anthony (Tony) Hoover, FASA. Tony is Past President of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC), Past Chair of the Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics (TCAA), and is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America (FASA).

An accomplished educator, Tony taught over forty full-semester courses in Architectural Acoustics at The Berklee College of Music in Boston, many semesters at The Boston Architectural Center, and numerous courses and presentations at other colleges and professional societies.
