Nils is a Dual Citizen (German/US), who worked as a visual artist in Germany before graduating with a Master of Fine Arts from the American Film Institute. While shooting a documentary about Los Angeles architects for the Wattis Museum in San Francisco, he became deeply involved with Californian architecture. Since then, he has taken photographs for various LA architects and launched an award winning fine art series created for interior designers working in large spaces. The series was promoted nationwide by interior designer Jeff Lewis. Nils took a break from photography to direct his first feature film in 2014, a film designed around iconic architecture. Nils continues to photograph for some of California's most acclaimed architects and has started to extend his work to architectural short films, which demonstrate an alternative and more narrative approach to capturing spaces.

The exhibit showcases some of the varying approaches Nils Timm has used to capture art and design including, reflections on experimental lighting and compositing techniques, as well as variations in tone and subject - from highly detailed textures to vast, urban landscapes and moody, cinematic portrayals of single structures.
