SCAG is now accepting nominations for its Fourth Annual Compass Blueprint Recognition Awards
The Compass Blueprint Recognition Awards are presented annually in recognition of projects that demonstrate excellence and achievement in the four key elements of Compass Blueprint planning:Livability, Mobility, Prosperity and Sustainability.
Last year's prestigious President's Excellence Award went to the City of Los Angeles and their South Collection project: Elleven, Luma, and Evo. The South Collection was a prime example of how a community can implement Compass Blueprint principles by targeting future growth into key activity centers and transportation corridors, and encourage land use and growth patterns that complement the region's transportation investments. Other winners were the City of Santa Monica for the 2008-2014 Santa Monica Housing Element project, the San Bernardino Associated Governments for the Visionary Planning for Mobility project, and the City of Long Beach for their Courtyard Lofts project.
This year's Compass Blueprint Recognition Awards Program will be held May 5, 2010 in conjunction with the SCAG Regional Conference & General Assembly at the La Quinta Resort in La Quinta. This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase your innovative project at a large regional event.
The deadline for nomination submission is: Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
The application packet and information on past years' award winners is available at www.compassblueprint.org/awards2010.
