Re: Los Angeles County Strategic Plan for Economic Development

Dear Mr. Allen:

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|LA) I am writing to acknowledge our support for the Los Angeles County Strategic Plan for Economic Development. We have also signed and attached a copy of your organization endorsement form.

Like the LAEDC , AIA|LA is interested in advocating for civic leaders to "implement smart land-use" decisions and to "build twenty-first century infrastructure", in order to enhance the quality of life in LA County. We also support the goal of healthier living by building more parks, improving mobility and removing obstacles and creating incentives to encourage the construction of a wider range of housing types. AIA|LA is also interested in working with LAEDC on advocacy efforts that will create a friendlier business environment, so that Los Angeles County and its' citizens can be more competitive, regionally and globally.

We encourage LAEDC to reach out to AIA|LA in identifying effective "next steps". As an organization representing 3200 members of an industry that has been hard hit by recent economic conditions, we are particularly keen to support measures that will enable the quick creation of jobs. The AIA|LA looks forward to providing knowledge and leadership resources to help the LAEDC meet the goals of the Los Angeles County Strategic Plan for Economic Development.

Very truly yours,

Paul Danna, AIA President AIA Los Angeles
