AIA/LA OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF NEW WEBSITE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 22, 2009) - The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles (AIA/LA) is proud to officially announce the launch of the Chapter's new website at www.aialosangeles.org.

Designed and Developed in conjunction with Los Angeles web design firm Use All Five, Inc. (www.useallfive.com) and creative advisor Willem Henri Lucas, the new site uses Google Maps to plug the AIA/LA Chapter into the greater context of the City of Los Angeles' massive geography. With three different portals to choose from (Member, Student and General), the website strives to welcome all members of the architecture and design community with a highly interactive and user-friendly format.

"Reconnecting AIA/LA to its local member base became the most important priority for the new web presence. By piggybacking the site onto Google Map technology, we were able to literally plug AIA/LA into the Greater Los Angeles Area. Creating a visual context around local news and events allows AIA/LA to define itself as an LA-centric organization while still retaining its national base." said J.J. Kaye, Use All Five designer and developer.

The site boasts a 'Today in Los Angeles' feature to keep the community up-to-date about all happenings on the architecture scene in Los Angeles as well as a 'Recent News' section with relevant content of interest added regularly. Visitors will be able to add these events directly to their calendars of choice (iCal, Outlook, etc.) or gain directions on the fly.

The new blog structure of www.aialosangeles.org allows for public comments on all news and events as well as the sharing of information. Each of the AIA/LA's 23 committees has a public profile in order to deliver news regarding their recent meetings and endeavors. This, along with the ability to subscribe to an RSS feed, provides a platform for ongoing discussion of architecture and design in Los Angeles and beyond.

"One of my goals as 2009 President was to improve communications with our members, create a better interface for the public, and make a design statement. The new website does all three," says John Kaliski, AIA.
