AIA|LA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL 2010 DESIGN AWARDS PARTY AT LACMA AND ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE DESIGN AWARDS PROGRAM

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 28, 2010) - The 2010 AIA|LA Design Awards Party held last night filled LACMA with excitement as honorees, guests and potential winners alike awaited the announcement of the coveted Design and Next LA Award recipients. The event, presented by Italian Living|Umbria, kicked off with an alfresco cocktail reception, where guests enjoyed drinks and hors d'oeuvres from the Patina Restaurant Group on a gorgeous Los Angeles evening. Guests also enjoyed a special preview of the newly opened Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion at LACMA.

The evening continued in LACMA's Bing Theatre where this year's ceremony was conducted in the vein of the Academy Awards - none of the winners were informed of their award in advance. Paul Danna, AIA, 2010 President of the AIA|LA Board of Directors, took the stage as the Master of Ceremonies and was joined by Li Wen, AIA, Annie Chu, AIA, Thomas Small & Kai-Ewe Bergmann and Stuart Magruder, AIA to announce the winners of the Next LA, Cultural Affairs Commission, Architectural Foundation of Los Angeles (AFLA) Design Green and the Design Awards winners, respectively.

Given the scope and exceptional quality of this year's entries into the Design and Next LA Awards Program, jurors presented a combined total of 35 projects in three levels of distinction - citation, merit and honor. In addition, the juries from both competitions selected a single project to recognize as Best in Show.
