Architect's Statement:

This research emerged as part of a "wall-less classroom" effort and represents a middle ground between idealized visions and urban realities affecting the growth of Downtown Los Angeles.

Jury Comments:

These proposals exhibit a tremendous level of research at the macro scale. Students sought out a multitude of conditions of LA urbanism, and not just a collection of isolated building sites. They are an admirable example of teacher/student collaboration and they appropriately reflect the efforts of many hands as opposed to one.
