A combined residence and studio on a major Los Angeles intersection was awarded for its solution of how one builds next to boulevards. A clear diagram of outside and inside territory separations, the exterior elevation was seen as an expression of the traffic outside, while internally the shelves of books act as insulation from this traffic and the adjacent bus stop.
